Challenge:
In this project I was asked to choose a pair of words that evoke emotion or state of mind. The challenge was to design each word separately to later put them together in one poster and have them work harmoniously.
Solution:
I chose War and Peace as my two words. After researching them, I felt that war would be best represented by opposing enemies clashing and confronting each other on the battlefield. Using the font Futura, I experimented with the different weights, in this case, medium and bold to represent the two groups of people, layering them in the middle where they meet to emphasize the conflict, struggle and energy one would associate with war. For peace, I used a lighter weight to give off a calmer feel and used the shape of the cross because it's what I personally associate with peace and felt it sends a powerful message. For my poster, I wanted peace to be hitting or coming down on war, breaking it up and ultimately casting it out.
